This is a belated story about the exhibition that I was privileged to be including in at Mist Gallery, Cabarita Beach.
Coalesce featured the mixed media works of Gabriela Soelkner, paintings Cheryl Petersons and a new collection of my ceramics made especially for the show as well as a few “angel” mixed media works.
This collection was a continuation of my fascination with ‘contemporary relics’. When I look at old things I feel a sense of a deep past that is quite transcendent. It connects me to the long history of human experiences as well as a sense of mythological realms.
Generally in my ceramics I am interested in exploring surface textures and decoration to build this sense of the timeless. This collection is united by surfaces that refer to weathered bronze.
The angel motif is also featured as it continues to be of interest to me as a symbol of lightness, of protection and of hope.
My works are still available through Mist Gallery until November 2nd when the lovely gallery will be closing as the owner transforms the focus of the art service.
